23-year-old Mikala found a beautiful long, thick pink fur coat with red hearts while scrolling through her Instagram account.
It was a sponsored post and the coat was available for just $50.25. Isn’t it a great deal?
Well, it certainly was not. What she received was totally different from the picture. She contacted the brand Soleila through email she found on their website.
Sadly, it was a wrong email address and she got an email back saying the message couldn’t be delivered.
Mikala tells Metro.co.uk: “It’s so thin you can see through it. It’s so sh*t. It feels so flammable. I don’t know why I thought it would be okay.”
Later, It turned out that the image that the brand used was a design by Simonetta Ravizza from the autumn 2018 runway show.
Mikala now plans to wear the $50.25 coat at least once to make it worth it but she says she will never shop from Instagram again.
She said: “It’s so cheap oh lord save me. I’ll attempt to wear it once just to make it worth it, for my sanity. I’m so frightened of insta brands. And now I have every reason. Never again.”
Mikala shared the picture of the coat on her Twitter account with the caption: ‘serves me right for buying off a f*cking Instagram advertised “brand”.’
People were left in stitches after seeing the huge difference between the picture and the actual coat. One user wrote: ‘naaaa I have tears in my eyes looking at this ????? the audacity’.
Mikala also said that she now wants the quote ‘It’s so cheap oh lord save me’ written on her gravestone.
Well, it is totally the case of expectation VS reality. It’s a lesson for all of us who do online shopping a lot. Next time you buy online, just remember Mikala and her $50 coat.
