A 32-year-old woman collapsed and died after suffering a heart attack at the funeral of her 63-year-old mother.
Julie Murphy, who had multiple sclerosis and dementia, died after contracting coronavirus on March 15 and her funeral was held last week in Atherstone Cemetery in Warwickshire.
Her daughter, Laura Richards and a few other people attended Julie’s funeral due to the coronavirus social gatherings restrictions.
At her mother’s funeral, Laura suffered a massive heart attack and died.
Laura’s half-sister Sadie told that they were lowering their mother into the ground when Laura suddenly started screaming, ‘I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe’.
Sadie’s daughter put a coat around her after she saw her clutching her chest.
Laura was unable to breathe and speak.
The vicar conducting the funeral tried to save her but they couldn’t do anything.
Sadie said: “But there was nothing that could be done, she had a massive heart attack. To lose your sister at your mum’s funeral – it’s like a horror film. She was only 32. I think her body just gave up on her.”
“I can’t get my head around that it happened just as mum’s coffin was being lowered. It’s just horrible. It’s wrong.”
A witness told The Sun that Laura started saying ‘my chest is tight, my chest is tight – I can’t breathe’ when they were lowering Julie into the ground.
She was standing on the tarmac, next to the burial plot. She couldn’t breathe and collapsed after suffering a massive heart attack.
The witness said: “She was on her side, clearly in distress.”
Laura was rushed to a hospital by the ambulance service after she collapsed at her mother’s funeral but later was pronounced dead.
The family is left devastated after losing their mother and then sister all of a sudden.
