A woman woke up from a coma only to find out that she has become a mother while she was hospitalized and fighting for her own life.
30-year-old Emily Brown from Tennessee was hospitalized at McMinn County’s Erlanger Hospital on September 18 when she was already 31 weeks pregnant.
Just two days after the expectant mother arrived at the hospital due to Covid-19 complications, her condition deteriorated and she was placed in a medically-induced coma.
For nearly three weeks, Brown was fighting for her life while she remained hooked to a ventilator. During her time in a coma, she also became a mother, whereas doctors delivered baby Tucker via C-section.
After the 30-year-old woke up from a coma, she allegedly had no idea she was already a mother. As she told News Channel 9, 32 days passed since her hospitalization even though she initially thought she was only there for two days.
“I thought I had only been at the hospital for two days and I was actually in the hospital for 32 days,” Brown admitted.
Speaking to News Channel 9, the proud mother also revealed how her experience changed her perspective on life and how it taught her “to live life to the fullest.”
Following the ‘miracle’ birth, baby Tucker had to stay in the hospital for more than a month because he was born prematurely.
While Brown was discharged on October 20, she had to wait for another month before she finally got to take her son home with her.
As the mother said, she opened up about her experience in an attempt to warn people about the frightening consequences of Covid-19.
“Wear a mask. I don’t like it either. It’s not enjoyable to have this thing on your face – but it’s far better being in a hospital on a ventilator with your family wondering if you are going to make it or not,” she concluded.
