A woman who had been infected with the novel coronavirus has concealed her symptoms and traveled to China after being denied testing on several occasions.
As the Chinese national, who resides in the States, insisted, she was forced to hide her symptoms from officials in order to get to China for treatment.
According to Ms. Li, she beat her high temperature by taking anti-fever medication prior to her 13-hour international flight.
While the woman is being treated in Beijing, the authorities have launched an investigation and revealed that the patient claimed she was denied testing by American doctors three times.
As Li explained, she started suspecting she got infected with the killer bug after one of her close friends fell ill.
Soon enough, her fears were confirmed as she began experiencing fever, runny nose, and coughing.
According to the reports, Li received anti-viral drugs when she first visited the hospital on March 3. The X-ray of her lungs, however, showed nothing out of the ordinary on both her first and second trip to the clinic.
On March 11, the woman returned to the hospital as her symptoms had worsened only for the scan to reveal she’d been suffering from pneumonia.
As Li insisted, however, the hospital refused to admit her. She also claimed she was denied coronavirus testing on three occasions.
On March 12, the woman took the matters into her own hands as she boarded Air China flight number CA988 together with her husband and their child and flew from L.A. to Beijing where she had been quarantined.
After the incident, the authorities have launched an investigation and quarantined 59 people who came into close contact with Ms. Li.
