38-year-old Sarah has Down syndrome and enjoys talking to herself.
She always pretends conversations with friends or commentary about occasions at her day program for people with disabilities.
Her mother, 66-year-old Sherry Galloway, could always keep track of her daughter by listening to the sound of her voice.
It was on March 21 when Sherry came out of the bathroom and “realized I didn’t hear Sarah,” she expressed.
She ran to the door and checked the road, looking down the street away from the house she shares with her daughter. Her heart leaped upon realizing Sarah was nowhere to be found.
“My first thought was that she’d just walked further than she was allowed,” says Galloway. “I got in the car and drove down the road. No Sarah. I was freaking out. … Within about 10 minutes, we’d called 911.”
Police officers and volunteer search the area but there was no trace of her.
Pima County (Arizona) Sheriff’s Department said that they continue to investigate her disappearance. They also joined forces with the Department of Homeland Security to look for Sarah.
Deputy Daniel Jelineo said: “She’s a vulnerable adult and we’re doing everything we can to locate her. We’re looking to the public to supply any tips they have.”
Sarah weighs around 100lbs and is 4 feet 11 inches tall. She has brown hair and brown eyes. The Caucasian woman has surgical scars on her finger and was wearing a red T-shirt, black pants and a grey sweater when she went missing.
Galloway said that her daughter’s behavior had been agitated before she disappeared. “It was really weird,” Galloway said. “She was fantasizing about someone — an acquaintance — being her husband, telling me that this guy was going to do bad things to me. We didn’t know where that was coming from or what to think.”
