An enraged home buyer has publicly denounced her housebuilders after she paid nearly $650,000 for a new “dream home” which had gargantuan electric and drainage faults.
Lucy Mitchell who’s an airline pilot spent $613,000 to buy a four-bed house in the Badbury Park area of Swindon, England, back in 2016.
The angry homeowner then spent another $35,000 to get the electric fittings, drainage and bathroom ceramics fixed.

Fifty-five-year-old Lucy faced issues throughout the building that included the absence of lights upstairs and malfunctioning thermostats.
According to Lucy, the property continuously remains wet because of a tap in the front of the house that keeps leaking.
The water makes her driveway wet all the way to the porch and one of her toilets is blocked by cement.
The top story of Lucy’s Badbury Park house is practically useless because of the poor insulation in the roof that makes the portion so cool as “having the windows open all the time.”
Lucy explained: “I’ve had a lot of problems. I had cracks on the walls, the front porch was not finished, the water was running down the drive into the garage at the front.
“There was concrete poured down the toilets downstairs, clogging the drains. I knew there were problems with leaking, but I thought everything had been fixed.”
Lucy spent a hefty $613,000 to buy the home that was built by Redrow and had to spend thousands of dollars on repairs afterward.
The builders from Redrow sent in their team to resolve the issues Lucy faced but that only made things worse.
“One of the plumbers, who was contracted, kept on coming for the same things – the heating and the water didn’t work,” Lucy said.
“Every time he came out he found something else. He said ‘your house has been sabotaged.’”
For Lucy, it was all a place to spend more and more money.
She had to spend more than $1,000 on solicitors’ letters to make the people at Redrow cover the expenses of top floor insulation which they have finally agreed to pay.
Lucy said: “I bought from Redrow because they are meant to be one of the better builders. My personal opinion now is that they are useless.”
Redrow Thames Valley’s head of customer services, Reka Horvath, said: “We’re aware of the concerns experienced by the customer and have been in direct contact to resolve any issues.
“All of our homes undergo rigorous inspection processes before completion and are signed off by the NHBC’s building control team.”
