63-year-old baker Lynn Nolan spent three months baking the entire Derbyshire Dales village, Eyam.
Mrs. Nolan used whiskey-soaked fruit cakes baked by locals to recreate the entire Derbyshire Dales village, depicting the village pub, shop, manor house, and the Bakewell & Eyam Community Transport minibus.
The buildings also have hidden LED lights.
Mrs. Nolan, who is a mother of two and a grandmother of four, used 608 eggs, 73lb of flour, 66lb of butter, 12 jars of apricot jam, 462lb of icing, and nine liters of whiskey to make the edible village.
Mrs. Nolan, from Youlgreave, Bakewell, was approached by residents in Eyam to make the edible village to raise funds for a community bus service.
The cakes were baked by locals and were sent back to Mrs. Nolan who then assembled the cakes to make the entire Derbyshire Dales village, Eyam.
The edible Derbyshire Dales village, Eyam was on display at the Church of St. Lawrence in Eyam for a six-week exhibition.
The edible village was on display to raise money for Bakewell & Eyam Community Transport – a community bus service.
Mrs. Nolan said: “It took 645 hours-worth of icing alone, but I think it’s been worth it. People have been leaning over the buildings and gasping when they see all the interior detail through the windows.”
“The cakes are all edible because the whiskey is a preservative — the longer you leave it, the better they’ll taste!”point 213 | 1
At the end of the six-week exhibition, each building will be auctioned off and the money raised from it will be donated to the community bus service.
But this is not the first time Mrs. Nolan has baked a village. She previously recreated her own village to raise funds for a church roof repair three years ago.
