Woman Showed Her Engagement Ring To Her Granddad Through Care Home Window Amid Coronavirus Lockdown


A 22-year-old woman visited her grandad to show her engagement ring at his care home which is in lockdown.

Carly Boyd recently got engaged to her boyfriend Trevor Sellers.

Carly wanted to share the good news with her grandad who is living in Premier Living and Rehab Center in Lake Waccamaw, North Carolina.

However, the building is in lockdown due to coronavirus fears.

Carly decided to show her engagement ring to her granddad through the care home window and the heartwarming pictures are now going viral.

One picture shows Carly showing her engagement ring to her granddad who is in isolation while another picture shows Carly and her granddad putting their hands on the glass window.

Carly said she wanted to tell her grandfather because he has dementia and there’s no phone at Premier Living and Rehab Center.

Carly told KOLD: “The staff said ‘Well we can walk around the building and we can pull the blinds up and you can tell him through the window’ and I was like ‘Yes, I would love to!’”

Carly and her granddad got emotional after connecting through the glass window. She said her granddad told her he hopes to see her soon.

She said: “I got really emotional and really sad and I just put my hand on the window, and he put his there too.”

“I just told him I love him, and he said ‘I love you too and I hope to see you soon’, like really see you.”

Another heartwarming picture emerged recently that shows an elderly man holding a sign and balloons for his wife of 67 years on their wedding anniversary amid coronavirus lockdown.

Bob Shellard, who has never been apart from his wife Nancy, on their anniversary decided to surprise her at her care home in Vernon, Connecticut.

On their wedding anniversary, Bob stood outside her care home window with a sign and balloons to wish his wife of 67 years a ‘Happy Anniversary’.

He held the sign that read: “I’ve loved you 67 years and still do. Happy Anniversary.”

He later said: “It makes me feel bad because I want her down with me and I know she can’t be.”

“I wouldn’t want anybody else. I don’t think she could put up with anybody else besides me.”
