A woman named Louise Radl, from Penrith works for the maintenance department in a holiday village.
She decided to join men and wear mustache for a month to celebrate Movember. Movember takes place for a whole month in November and promotes men’s health. It is also done to get donations and raise money for testicular and prostate cancer.
Louise told LADbible: “I wanted to raise money for it too so I decided on having a fake mustache for the whole 30 days. I just wanted to be able to raise some money for it as some of my colleagues were and didn’t see why I couldn’t do it too.”
“I have a different style one every day, sometimes a stick-on and sometimes drawn on as the adhesive is quite an irritant!”
“I haven’t been out the house once without it on, to work, to the shops, to parents’ evening.”
She has worn her mustache everywhere she went. The good thing is in less than halfway through the month she had already reached her target of £500 ($640).
Louise added: “I’m surprised at the reaction of people, I thought more people would laugh but they try not to look or look and look away quickly. I think it makes people feel really awkward and is quite embarrassing!”
“I would like to join in [for Movember] and raise some money too as it’s everyone that’s affected by testicular and prostate cancer not just the men, it’s their families, friends and colleagues.
“Funds raised during November go towards supporting innovative world-class men’s health projects in our key focus areas – prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.”
“I hope this brings more awareness to testicular and prostate cancer and men’s mental health, if I have to walk around and be embarrassed with a mustache on for 30 days, I’m sure they can be embarrassed for 5 minutes and have their prostate checked!”
