A woman from San Diego, California feeds homeless every week from her own pocket.
Debra Davis, also known as Auntie Debra, works in the cafeteria at Hoover High School.
Every morning she prepares food and after serving students in the cafeteria at Hoover High School, Debra feeds the homeless.
“But you don’t understand the joy that I get from feeding people,” she says.
After her story went viral, a GoFundMe was set up for her which has already raised over $27K. The GoFundMe page reads:
“Auntie Debra Davis serves the students of Hoover High School and the San Diego Community, by providing them meals, love, and kindness. After “work,” she uses the little she has in her pocket to feed the homeless.”
Steve Harvey interviewed her after her selfless act went viral.
“I get up (at) 3:30 in the morning and I prepare the food and everything and I put it in the car … I go to work, and then when I get off of work I go feed the homeless from say 1 o’clock to like 6 o’clock,” she told Steve Harvey.
“The Bible says if I love the Lord, I’ll feed His people. So I’m just doing what the Lord asked me to do. I’m just a servant.”
Debra, who also collects cans and bottles for recycling to fund her cause, was left surprised when Steve Harvey gave her a check for $5,000.
“We already know you’re going to do the right thing with it,” Harvey said while presenting Davis with the $5,000 check.
Debra was left in tears after receiving the check as it will help her to fund her cause.
