A woman has spoken out about her recent experience after being fined for speaking too loudly outside her neighbor’s home.
Diamond Robinson from Eastpointe, Detroit, was in for a clash with the police while strolling through her neighborhood and talking on the phone on Thursday.
While enjoying her chat, Robinson was approached by one of her neighbors who asked her if she could talk lower or get off the phone. She also revealed that her neighbor had told her that she was working from home and that her boss had complained about Robinson’s loud talking.
Unfazed by her neighbor’s complaint, Robinson told the woman, whom she referred to as Rebecca, to “get out of my face” before continuing her phone chat.
As Robinson told Fox 2, the police showed up minutes later only to fine her $385 for public nuisance. She also told the outlet that she believes she was a victim of racism, whereas she now plans on fighting the fine with everything she’s got.
“A lot of these things are being pushed under the rug and they don’t need to. We can sit here all day and we can chant, we can riot, and we can do all of those things (but) that is not going to make a change if you don’t speak up at that time, at that moment,” Robinson told Fox 2.
During the confrontation with the police, Robinson also went live on Facebook as she suggested she could become the next victim of discrimination against Black people.
“I hope I’m not the next victim of Black Lives Matter, but if so f*** it because I will do what the f*** I wanna do,” the woman captioned her video.
