Woman – Who Lives Near Wuhan Food Market And Was Selling Live Shrimps – Was The First To Test Positive For Coronavirus


A woman, who lives near the Wuhan food market and was selling live shrimps, was the first person to test positive for the coronavirus that started in December 2019, according to a document leaked to media.

Ms. Wei lives in a rented flat near the Wuhan food market where live animals are sold.

Ms. Wei developed a fever on December 11 after contracting the deadly virus. She thought it was just the seasonal flu and went to a small clinic nearby.

Despite being ill, she continued working and selling the animals at the Wuhan food market.

After her health deteriorated, she went to The Eleventh Hospital of Wuhan after five days.

The doctors at The Eleventh hospital gave her pills but were unable to understand what was wrong with her.

When it didn’t work, she again went to the small clinic and asked for injections that made her condition worse.

She told The Paper: “I did not have enough strength or energy.”

“I felt a bit tired, but not as tired as previous years. Every winter, I always suffer from the flu. So I thought it was the flu.”

She then went to the biggest hospital in the city – the Wuhan Union Hospital where the doctors told her several people with similar symptoms had already visited the hospital.

Ms. Wei, who is 57 years old and her full name is Wei Guixian according to The Wall Street Journal, said: “At that time, there were many people in the hospital.”

Ms. Wei, who is believed to have been recovered, was one of the first 27 patients diagnosed with coronavirus in Wuhan.

24 out of 27 people had a link to the Wuhan food market and this is why it is believed the virus was originated in Wuhan in December 2019.
