A 92-year-old woman, from Greater Manchester, is probably the oldest groupie as she has followed her favourite rock band on tour for five years.
Chrissie Younge is obsessed with Bolton-based band ‘The Jade Assembly’ as she has seen them perform 60 times after learning about the band in 2013 at 86.
Chrissie, who was a professional dancer, sits at the front and dances during the whole gig.
“I haven’t got any family or children but the band has welcomed me with open arms. They pick me up before their gigs in the bus and the lead singer sings all the way there and plays the guitar.”
“It’s great and I plan on following them until the day I die. I’ll never stop going to their gigs – it keeps me young”, she says.
Chrissie, who was born in Lincolnshire in April 1927, got married when she was young but it ended in divorce.
The ballet dancer used to work in Paris’ famous cabaret halls as a can-can dancer in the 1950s.
Later, she moved to the UK and started living in a bungalow in Egerton, Bolton. She says she drinks dark rum with soda every day which keeps her going.
“I eat lots of cereal like cornflakes every day. I have at least two bowls – one in the morning and one at the end of the day.”
“I eat very little meat and always enjoy a dark rum and soda in the evening – it keeps the blood in my veins young and keeps me dancing”.
“Whenever I go and see the band I indulge in a drink or two as well – it would be rude not to”, she says.
Chrissie considers the Bolton-based band ‘The Jade Assembly’ as her family and loves the band so much that she plans to follow them until she dies.
