A woman has warned car passengers about the dangers of resting your feet on a car dash after a freak accident that caused her to end up with no forehead.
36-year-old Grainne Kealy, who is originally from Ireland, was just 21 when she and her boyfriend crashed their Jeep into a wall after losing control of the vehicle due to slippery surface.
While the car was traveling at just over 30 mph at the time of the crash, Kealy was left with a broken forehead and face because of her dangerous sitting position.
As Kealy revealed, her feet were resting on the car’s dashboard at the time of the incident. As the pair crashed into the wall, the airbags inflated and sent Kealy’s knees smashing right into her face with full force.
Following 15 years and 16 surgeries after the car crash, Kealy is warning other passengers not to put their feet on the dash while in a moving car.
“I was one of those people who had my feet up. I thought I was going to be more comfortable,” the 36-year-old, who now lives in New Zealand, said in an interview with the New Zealand Herald.
“The only thing I can hope for people is to learn from my mistakes and don’t take the risk. You just don’t know. You can’t control every car on the road or the conditions around you.”
According to Kealy, she has no recollection of several months that took place before the life-changing incident. She is now also suffering from Acquired Brain Injury and constant headaches and has to take anti-depressants to cope with her condition.
As the 36-year-old expressed, it breaks her heart to see “celebrities with their feet on the dashboard” sharing photos of the dangerous position with millions of people as if there was nothing wrong with what they’re doing.
“This breaks my heart to think of how many millions of people have seen these celebrities with their feet on the dashboard. I can only hope that people will eventually learn from my mistake,” Kealy said.
