Anyone who keeps a dog and has tried clipping their nails can testify to the fact that this task looks quick and simple but can leave you with a lot of scratches and bleeding.

Naturally, dog’s nails don’t grow dangerously long as they are worn down by walking and running on hard surfaces.

However, dogs who live in apartments and walk on carpets or grassy plots tend to grow their nails to dangerous sizes. So their nails need regular clipping, which is not an easy task.

However, Lindsey Shelton, who is a resident of Pismo Beach in California, has shown how to keep a dog busy while you clip their nails off.

In the video of the trick posted on TikTok, the ICU nurse can be seen with her head covered in cling film as she undertakes the job.

The next thing she does might seem to be a fool’s act but is actually a very genius hack for clipping a dog’s nails.

She takes some peanut butter and covers the cling film on her head with it. She makes it clear that the peanut butter is free of Xylitol, a chemical used to sweeten things that’s toxic for dogs.

Knowing that people will think she is a fool, she says in the video: “I might look like a dork, but I’m about to look like a genius.”

Next up in the video, 27-year-old Lindsey can be seen kneeling down in front of her dog Schmidt, encouraging him to feast on the peanut butter applied to her noggin.

As the dog indulges with the tasty treat, the clever lady gets plenty of time to clip his nails off.

People on Insta and TikTok have praised Lindsey in the comments for the genius hack she has come up with. Lindsey said it was boredom that made her come up with the peanut butter + cling film idea.

“Truly, boredom. I was being silly and my dogs needed their nails trimmed,” she told POPSUGAR.

We hope, you can now trim your dog’s nails at home without getting injured while also saving the fee of the vet by using the same trick.
