According to the mother of a 2-year-old, she is constantly stressed and anxious because she feels like she is her toddler’s slave.

“My son didn’t sleep through the night until 11months old. I never sleep trained. I accepted the 3 hours of broken sleep a night, every night. Cried every day, every night. Living 800+ miles away from family and friends, dealt with it on my own while my husband works,” the mother wrote.

While she expected things would get better in time, the woman still can’t bring herself to enjoy motherhood even now that her son is already almost three years old.

Though she admitted that the little boy is smart and nice, she can’t help but feel that becoming a mother was one of the “worst things” that have ever happened to her.

“I just hate being a slave to another human being. I know it’s not his fault but this is torture. TORTURE,” she concluded.

“Some people aren’t meant to be parents,” someone wrote.

“Unfortunately, some people don’t realize this until it’s too late. My grandmother was the same way, she grew up in time where she was expected to have kids, but she really shouldn’t have. The only condolence I can offer is that if you raise your kid right, it’ll get a lot easier when they’re older.”

“I’m sorry you’re going through this. As a mom, I know the stress is ROUGH. Have you thought about going back to work, if you can? Even on a part-time basis? Some time to yourself to embrace your own needs would likely do wonders. Sometimes you need time to yourself to be happy, and therefore be the best version of yourself for your kid,” another user suggested.

One person said: “Yes your mental and physical health is important and you shouldn’t feel obligated to take care of your son 100% of the time.

“Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Tell your husband you need time and let him watch your son for a bit while you sleep! Or if he isn’t compliant reach out to friends and family.

“Even if they are far I’m sure just talking to another adult can be so helpful. There are ways to find affordable counseling and doctors to help with the panic attacks and depression.”
