A deaf woman has broken down into tears after being able to hear sounds for the first time in 34 years after her mother-in-law stepped in and offered to pay for the expensive technology.

While in-laws are typically not something people want to talk about, Sarah Churman has always been close with her mother-in-law and thought their relationship was perfect.

Sarah’s life, however, has never been easy. The 34-year-old mother was born deaf and never got the chance to hear her husband say “I love you” or hear her daughter’s first laugh.

After nearly losing all hope of ever being able to hear, the mother was thrilled when she heard about a new hearing implant that could allow her to hear the voices around her.

While Sarah knew she had to get her hands on the $30,000-per-ear technology, raising all that money while taking care of her daughter just wasn’t an option.

That’s when the woman’s mother-in-law stepped in and offered her retirement savings to pay for one of Sarah’s hearing implants.

As the mother-in-law explained, she wanted her daughter-in-law to be able to hear her children at all costs.

The news of the mother’s generosity soon went viral and the story was picked up by Ellen DeGeneres who invited Sarah to her show.
