Losing your spouse to cancer is one of the most heartbreaking experiences anyone has to endure.
Marc had to go through the same experience when his wife had to battle and eventually lose to stage 4 ovarian cancer, just months after the diagnosis. He was nowhere near prepared to let her go, but she was gone. Now, he was left with their two young kids. He had to take care of their emotional and physical needs and make ends meet, all the while grieving his loss. Things got so bad that the family started sleeping in their car at night, as Marc worked as a nighttime custodian in Minnesota.
Marc finally decided that he and his children couldn’t keep going like this. Looking for any support he could get, he decided to see an occupational therapist.

During one of his visits, Marc shared his story with some of the staff members at the occupational therapist’s office. He didn’t realize it at the time, but another woman in the waiting room, Holly, overheard the whole conversation. She felt so sympathetic with what Marc was going through and decided she’d do anything to help.
When Holly went home that day, she turned to Facebook for help. She wrote a post about the story she’d heard, and asked for any kind of help for Marc’s family.
Donations started pouring in from everywhere!

Holly was definitely overwhelmed with this amazing amount of support that came flooding in, but she didn’t lose sight of the goal she had when she first posted her request for help. She made sure to keep track of everything in order to lead her mission to success!
The day finally came when Holly got to surprise Marc and his kids with all the generous donations from the community.point 229 |
The family was beyond words! Even the simplest thing, like a bottle of pink nail polish, was received with enormous amounts of joy by Marc’s daughter.point 131 | It’s amazing how something so small can make such a big difference.point 193 | 1
