A woman is accused of killing a young man and his dog in a hit-and-run that followed moments after she fled from another crash scene on Sunday.
25-year-old Michael Farmer from Georgia was walking with his beloved dog, Bruce, around Sandy Springs when a female driver crashed into him and the pooch and ended both of their lives before speeding away.
After the tragic hit-and-run, the driver of the white 2020 Chevy Malibu was identified as 38-year-old Dominque Houston.
According to the police, the woman rammed into Farmer and Bruce moments after she fled another crash scene at a nearby interchange. As the authorities revealed, Houston was driving at a high speed as she struck the young man and his pet after another hit-and-run.
“Sandy Springs Police Traffic Investigators learned that minutes prior to this deadly incident, the same hit-and-run vehicle had been involved in an additional hit-and-run crash with another vehicle while in the area of Roswell Road and I-285,” the Sandy Springs Police Department revealed in a statement.
“The suspect was fleeing the first incident at a high-rate of speed when it struck the pedestrian and his dog; causing fatal injuries to both.”
Following two hit-and-run incidents in a row, Houston was arrested in nearby Newnan. She is now facing several charges including reckless driving, first-degree vehicular homicide, and two counts of hit-and-run.
Meanwhile, Evan Sbat, one of Farmer’s friends, spoke to CBS 46 to condemn the driver’s actions and brand her as inhumane.
“Had she have stopped at the first one when she hit the car he would still be alive today. Having no regard for that and then after hitting him still fleeing the scene beyond that, it’s inhumane and it’s selfish and I don’t understand how someone could just do that,” he said.
Another friend, Jack O’Connor, told the publication that Michael was one of the most selfless people he had ever met.
