When someone coughs, sneezes, or talks, they may release small drops into the air that can infect other people.
Face masks help limit the spread of disease as it protects the wearer’s mouth and nose from sprays or splashes of body fluids.
But one woman decided to cut a big hole in her face mask to make it easier to breathe, eliminating the main purpose of face mask.
Joe Samaan was working a shift at an S J Food Mart in Kentucky when a female customer walked in and paid for gas while wearing a face mask. Unlike other customers, the woman’s face mask had a hole that left her nose and mouth exposed.
A video shared on TikTok shows the female customer approaching him and asking: “Hi there, can I get 10 on pump one please?”
Joe then did the transaction before asking the customer: “Where did you get that mask from?”
She responded: “Well since we have to wear them and it makes it hard to breathe, this [cutting it] makes it a lot easier to breathe.”
Surprised by her answer, Joe asked again: “Cutting it?” The female customer nodded.
“Yeah sure I’ll do that too, thanks for the advice,” shocked Joe said as the woman walked out the store.
The clip has been viewed over 4.2 million times, with people commenting in astonishment at the woman’s ignorance.
One internet user commented: “IQ of about 75, I’d say. She’s the kind of person that forced companies to have to put warnings on items like “Beware – coffee is hot” or “Caution – Ice Cream is cold”………….”
Another wrote: “Plus… She can drink her drink through a straw without taking the mask off… Win win.”
A third added: “She’s got a brain cell, but it’s VERY LONELY.”
