A woman was left with severe burns after trying to spice up the intimate moments with her partner.
Josi and Michael are a sweet couple from Clarksville, Tennessee, who tried their best to set a raunchy mood as they got intimate with each other. Sadly, however, the couple’s attempt at trying something new failed horribly and resulted in a trip to the ER.
As the couple explained in an interview for TLC’s ‘Sex Sent Me To The ER’, Josi was left with third-degree burns after she and Michael poured melted sugar on her chest.
According to the pair, they previously heated their foreplay using candlewax. After enjoying it a lot, they decided to take it all to the next level by melting a giant gummy bear and pouring the contents across Josi’s chest.
What the couple didn’t expect, however, was that melted sugar was much hotter and didn’t plan on cooling down as quickly as candlewax did.
“It was hot – in my head I’m comparing it to things like candle wax and I’m like, ‘It’s going to instantly start cooling down.’ My chest was on fire,” Josi admitted.
To make matters worse, Michael tried to comfort his partner and relieve her pain by licking the gummy bear off her chest only to burn his mouth in the process.
Meanwhile, Josi’s skin started peeling off and she was forced to make an emergency trip to the hospital where doctors diagnosed her with third-degree burns.
“Burns are relatively common in the ER, they’re relatively uncommon self-inflicted like this,” Dr Jordan Moskoff admitted. “I’ve never seen someone purposefully burn themselves with molten gummy candy.”
After several months of treatment and recovery, the couple has finally recovered enough to re-enact the scene for the TLC show and speak out about their excruciating experience.
“For both of us it really was humbling to say the least. We do make sure to do a bit more thorough research into our endeavors,” Michael said.
