Upon being caught, the woman told them she was Beyoncé Knowles.

Surena Henry, 48, who is a resident of Las Cruces, New Mexico, allegedly gave the superstar’s name when she was caught driving a stolen vehicle.

According to the statement submitted by the police in the court, Henry did not pull over when the police asked her to and this caused the officers to chase her.

The police chased her to her house and arrested her when she stepped out of the car.

At the time of her arrest, she refused to give her original name, telling them that she was the renowned pop singer Beyoncé. She thought it might give her a chance of slipping away but it didn’t.

Henry is at least 10 years older than the pop star she tried to pretend to be and by her looks, she is, in no way, similar to Beyoncé. All this effort could not keep the police from arresting her.

They took her to Doña Ana County Detention Center where she was identified through her fingerprints.

Police also made it known that Henry already had a municipal bench warrant out for her as she failed to appear before the court in another case.

Henry told the police that the car was there with the keys in ignition switch hence she got the chance to take it away.

Upon being asked why didn’t she pull over when asked by the cops, she said she “didn’t feel like pulling over.”

Apparently, that is not a sufficient excuse to make the police let you go away.

Henry’s been charged with one count of vehicle theft, one count of trying to deceive the police and causing obstruction in arrest.

Giving the name of a famous celebrity to avoid getting caught is quite a thing to do but last year, someone gave a fake name to the police even though his real name was tattooed on his neck.

Toronto resident Matthew Bushman, who was arrested by the police in a forgery case, gave the cops a fake name even though the tattoo on his neck said in plain text: “Matty B.”

Mattoon Police Department shared the case on their Facebook page, saying: “Mattoon Police arrested Matthew C Bushman, 36 years of age of Mansfield, IL, for the offense of Obstructing Justice.”
