A 62-year-old woman was left stunned when she woke up and found out that her artificial lawn had been stolen from their garden.
Elizabeth believes that the turf – which had stones and plant pots on top of it – had been stolen as soon as she went to bed.
In an interview with Liverpool Echo, the grandmother said: “My son went outside this morning and he said, ‘what’s happened to the turf?’ I said, ‘what do you mean?’ So I went out and it just looks like it’s been pulled out and rolled up.
“I just couldn’t believe it. It’s comical in a way, why have they done it?”
Elizabeth added: “It could be some lads had a few to drink and thought it was a bit of a laugh to take it or someone has targeted it and knew what they were looking for.”
The 62-year-old explained how the major part of turf had been stolen but the smaller sections have been left behind.
“We put it down just before lockdown around about March time and it’s not been moved since,” she said.
“I had slate and stones on it to stop it moving and it was stuck down,” Elizabeth added. “If someone has seen it or saw what happened it would be useful to know what happened.”
The artificial grass came from her mother-in-law, who passed away in January.
One internet user commented: “Local gangs are the problem, the police reckon it’s a turf war.”
Another wrote: “God bless her .. that disgusting hate thieves .. cameras need to go up.”
A third added: “I bet it in someone garden up the road look round and see if someone got CCTV on house near you you might catch them.”
