A woman was caught on camera trying to lure a family dog into a busy street after berating the pet’s owner.
In a bizarre confrontation that took place in New York City, an unidentified woman was caught on camera attempting to lure Boba the dog into traffic because his owners failed to keep him on a leash during their walk.
As seen in the video, which originally appeared on Reddit, the woman got into a fight with an Asian man over his dog.
“Have you never heard of a leash in the city? We’ll wait for the police to clear it up,” she yelled after the lady who was with the man asked why she was harassing them.
As the confrontation escalated, the woman went on to clap her hands and run towards the street in an attempt to lure Boba in front of the oncoming cars.
According to the man who took the video of the incident, the woman also told him to go back to where he came from before he started recording.
After failing to lure the defenseless animal into the busy street, the woman walked back towards the dog walkers who retaliated by saying:
“You’re actually instigating a dog to go to the middle of a highway? What kind of problem do you have, lady?
“You insult someone of Asian descent … Why don’t you go back where you came from? Who are you? Leave people alone.”
Responding, the angry woman yelled: “Put it out there. Put it out there that you can walk around without your dog on a leash.”
While the woman eventually approached an NYPD cruiser, it isn’t clear how the situation turned out and whether the police intervened or not.
As per the City’s Department of Sanitation, dog owners must ensure that their pets are “effectively restrained by a leash or chain no more than six feet long” while walking in public.
Though this rule was apparently broken by Boba’s owners, internet users were quick to call for the woman in the video to face charges for trying to lure a pet dog into the street.
While some said the dog walkers were at fault for not keeping their dog on a leash, many agreed that the woman didn’t react appropriately and went too far with her actions.
