Pets are an integral part of our lives they are not mere animals but an extension of our family.

And losing a pet can be a devastating experience that not everyone can move on from very easily.

However, this is not a sob story. This is the story of a woman who was reunited with her cat after almost 10 years!

It all began in Port St. Lucie when Mara Briand’s family discovered a small kitten by the snowbank in New Hampshire and decided to take it in.

Initially, assumed to be a female, the kitten was named Fifi and the name stuck even after his actual gender was revealed.

Sometime in 2006, the cat was microchipped and had his name, address and phone number embedded on his skin. This proved to be a very smart decision for the cat. 

The family then moved to the Sunshine State of Florida wherein an unfortunate robbery, the two fur babies Mimi and Fifi were stolen and lost.

Mimi was found over a year later but had grown attached to her rescuer and decided to stay with them. Fifi, on the other hand, seemed to have disappeared off the face of the earth! 

So imagine their surprise when almost a decade later, Mara gets a call from the animal control authorities at Port St. Lucie park to inform about a cat that was identified as Fifi.

This unbelievable and heartwarming reunion of the cat and her human is recorded in the video linked below.

According to Mara, the cat immediately recognized her and started purring and rolling on her back. Fifi is now safe, happy and content with her family, in a home that welcomes her with open arms.
