A woman who lost 50kg by switching to a healthy lifestyle has been crowned Miss Great Britain.
26-year-old Jen Atkin from Lincolnshire managed to win the longest-running pageant in the UK after losing weight from 108kg to 57kg!
After Jen’s astonishing weight loss, she has been keen to promote a healthy lifestyle. She was named Miss Scunthrope and went on to complete for the title of Miss England 2018 where she won as first runner-up.
When she got married, she decided to take a break from pageants but decided to give it another try after her name was put forward to represent Great Britain.
Jen, who was named the 75th Miss Great Britain, said: “It was such a shock – three years ago I would never ever expected to be winning Miss GB. Hard work really does pay off.”
She featured on Good Morning Britain with Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard for a debate on weight loss after she managed to turn her life around.
Jen is not the only one in her family to represent the country. Her twin brother, Sam Atkin, also competed for Great Britain at European Indoor Championships over 3,000m distance.
“I’m so incredibly honoured to be the 75th Miss Great Britain, representing our country alongside my twin brother who runs for Team GB,” she expressed.
“There were 45 Miss Great Britain finalists and I was lucky to not only win the personality award but take home the crown and title of Miss Great Britain 2020. It felt absolutely incredible, I’m over the moon.”
Jen, also a country singer, added: “I have so much in the pipeline for my reign, including the release of my next country single this spring.”
