A woman was surprised to receive a touching note from a homeless man after treating him to a meal.
Casey Fischer was at Dunkin’ Donuts when she came across a life-changing situation that she will never forget.
In front of the store, there was a homeless man who was picking up change. After collecting a few coins, the man entered Dunkin’ Donuts and began counting his money.
Casey approached the guy and began talking to him even though he didn’t appear to be in the mood for a conversation.
As Ms. Fischer noticed, the man had no more than $1 in his hand which is why she decided to treat him to a bagel and a warm cup of coffee. She also asked the homeless man to sit down and enjoy the meal together with her.
Eventually, Casey learned that the man’s name was Chris and that his addiction to drugs had “turned him into the person he hated.”
According to the Good Samaritan, Chris told her that people were often treating him unkindly “because he was homeless.” Despite all of his struggles, however, he wants nothing more than to become the person his mother, who passed away due to cancer, would want him to be.
After chatting for more than an hour, Casey was about to leave and return to her class when Chris told her to wait for a minute. He then wrote something on the receipt and crumpled it before handing it over to Casey.
After the two parted ways, Casey opened the note which read:
“I wanted to kill myself today. Because of you I now do not. Thank u, beautiful person.”
As Casey learned, a small act of kindness can have an incredible impact on someone else’s life.
