Domestic violence remains a problem all around the world.
Many women and men are subjected to physical or emotional abuse every day, and that was also the case for Carolyn Reichle.
Carolyn endured two days of gun threats and beatings from her ex-boyfriend Jeremy Floyd. On the third day, she formed a plan that was risky but if it worked, it will help her get rid of those issues.
After experiencing physical abuse for two days inside their DeLand home, Carolyn decided to be brave enough and do something about it.
According to the New York Post, Carolyn spent every second of those two days laid up in bed. She had several injuries and there were bullet holes through the walls of their homes.
39-year-old Jeremy Floyd thought that his former girlfriend was too terrified to do something, but he was wrong.
Floyd let Carolyn take the dog to the vet as long as he was with her and he had a weapon in his pocket. On the way to the vet, Floyd even threatened to kill her and her whole family.
Carolyn was wearing sunglasses because of her black eye. When they arrived, she was able to give a secret note to the vet.
The note had chilling words that read:
“Call the cops. My boyfriend is threatening me. He has a gun. Please don’t let him know.”
After reading the note, the staff contacted the cops right away and told them about what she knew. She also pretended that she wasn’t aware of the situation and continued with her duties while Floyd and Carolyn were waiting.
Cops soon arrived and placed the 39-year-old under arrest. He was held in Volusia County Branch Jail on several charges, including false imprisonment, aggravated assault with a firearm, and domestic violence.
Carolyn was taken to a hospital where she was treated for head injuries, bruises on arms, and a black eye.
Thankfully she was able to create a plan and the vet knew exactly how to respond.
