What is the ideal image of a dog in most of our minds? A cute four-legged tiny baby running around with his tail wiggling and his fur making a mess and making him look adorable no matter what? Isn’t it the way most of us picture a dog?
What would you do when you see a dog with no hair at all. No, we are not being objectified but most of us will be freaked out by a dog with no hair at all.
On the other hand, this woman had her heart on such a dog and not because he was an adorable baby but because he looked like an ancient Egyptian statue.
Wendy Scarborough is a full-time volunteer for rescued dogs and recently she brought home a rare dog she named Fable and says people take him as an old statue rather than a dog most of the time.
Ever since the 48 years old has adopted Fable she has been asked questions about Peruvian Hairless Dog by several dog fans and owners.
She says “This happens all the time. Every time we take Fable out we get asked the same question. People think of her as a statue most of the time.
People get curious and ask us what kind of dog she is because she does not look real. They want to touch her and feel that she is real and ask about her origin all the time. They tell me that she looks like an ancient Egyptian statue rather than a real dog.”
Wendy adopted Fable because she was curious to adopt a dog with rare features and she found Fable who had a rare condition called Peruvian Hairless Dog where she has almost no hair on her body.
This attracted Wendy and no time she spent £2000 on her and brought Fable home.
