A woman named Syd took three photos of herself trying on a long dress.
However, she accidentally sent them to a stranger.
She received a reply: “I believe this message was intended for someone else. My wife isn’t home, so I couldn’t get her opinion, but the kids and I think you look stunning in your dress! You should definitely go with that one!”
The father-of-six who received the text also shared a photo of his children showing their approval of the gown.
Syd’s friend shared the entire exchange on social media and it immediately went viral. Tony saw the tweet and replied:
“Hello! Apparently you have made my children Twitter famous! My 2nd youngest (not pictured, he was at chemo clinic) has a FB page for his fight against Leukemia and one of our Prayer Warriors recognized the children! Btw, my wife agreed that the dress looked great! God Bless!”
Another person then commented with a link to his son Kaizier’s GoFundMe page. The thread went viral and the money started coming for the child’s treatment.
Tony and his family were surprised. “Since this all started we’ve had over $3,000 donated,” Tony explained.
“That’s more than we had donated in total over the last 2 years. It’s been amazing and is a bigger blessing than anyone could ever know. We were backed up to a financial wall. I’ve been working the entire time, but I was slowly but surely succumbing to the financial rigors of the situation.”
Their GoFundMe page received over $60,000 and now the family is using the page to raise funds for another boy who is also battling cancer.
“Thank you for determining this was worthy of a tweet. The kindness and generosity of Twitter and others saw our gofundme account surpass our goal last night! I can’t begin to thank everyone enough! This is a major hour of need for us and this blessing will help more than you know,” Tony wrote.
His wife Rachel is also blown away by what happened all because of one wrong text. She wrote: “It is so refreshing to be reminded that there are good people in the world who still care about others and are quick to be generous and kind to others.”
