A young woman who said to cops that she was ‘too pretty’ for jail after being caught driving at twice the legal limit has been spared prison!
34-year-old Lauren Cutshaw claimed that she is white, a former cheerleader, and did well in school, so police officers should not arrest her.
But they did, and after striking a plea deal, Lauren won’t spend any time in prison.
She was stopped by cops near Bluffton town and failed a breathalyzer test. Officers made the stop after noticing her speeding. She also ran a stoplight at 60mph at 1:45 am.
The police department report filed after the arrest said that Lauren claimed she only had two glasses of wine. But a blood alcohol level of 0.18 is already more than twice the legal limit.
Also, Lauren tried to argue with the officers, saying she was “a very clean, thoroughbred, white girl’ and ‘I’m a white, clean girl.”
She also mentioned her membership in the National Honor Society and her ‘perfect grades.’
Then she spoke about how terrified she was about going to prison, telling cops: “I don’t want to know what it’s like. I’m a pretty girl, please don’t make me go there.”
The cop asked ‘what that had to do with anything.’
But Lauren continued: “You’re a cop – you should know what that means… you should know that based upon people that come into this room.”
In the end, she paid a fine of $187 and wouldn’t serve any time behind bars.
Also, charges of speeding, possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana, were also dropped against her.
She must complete the South Carolina Alcohol and Drug Safety program as part of her rehabilitation.
