While most 20-year-olds are busy studying, figuring things out and having fun with friends, Samantha Rodriguez was busy taking care of her five siblings.
With the oldest sibling being 15 and the youngest 6, Samantha had to take the role of dad and mom after their parents died of cancer.
“Doing everything on my own is very hard,” Samantha told WZZM.
After her story and video were shared online, viewers were impressed with the young woman’s sacrifice and resilience.
The community has been amazingly supportive of the family that the Orange County Sheriff’s Office decided to give them a huge surprise.
The Ocso Aviation United chipped in with a gift of their own: a breathtaking helicopter ride! All six Rodriguez children discovered the amazing gift waiting for them.
Their story promoted many anonymous donors to pay for something that would be very useful to them: a brand new car!
“You don’t know how much this means to us,” Samantha expressed. “It’s such a big help, really.”
“Doing everything on my own is very hard but I’m so glad to have people like you guys in my life,” she added.
The brand new Nissan Versa was presented to all Rodriguez children at the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, and the footage of the amazing surprise has quickly gone viral.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office wrote on Twitter: “Our community is amazing! After hearing the Rodriguez kids’ story, a group of anonymous donors did this for Samantha, 20, who is raising her five younger siblings after both of their parents died. #ActsOfKindness.”
