We don’t use the mail service now as we used to do it before all the latest technology came to us that allows communication within seconds.
Yes, a letter may never make the news because hey, it is just a letter that has arrived. But this letter for sure made to the news because the letter arrived 112 years later. Yes, a letter from the Royal Mail arrived almost 112 years later when it was sent.
24 years old Michaela Webber received the letter in her post box and the letter was written for ‘Miss Wiltshire’.
When Michaela’s husband went out to collect the post from the letterbox and that is when they found the postcard.
The first reaction she gave to the postcard was that she screamed that there is a ghost in the house and the ghost is getting letters in its name. Of course, that was only for fun.
She later did her research to find out who ‘Miss Wiltshire’ was. She found out that the women lived in the same house back in the year 1901. The letter was written in 1907 but never arrived back then. She died in the year 1990.
The letter did not have something to much fun written in it but just a note from some Albert stating that he won’t be able to make it for Christmas as he is not really feeling too great.
A spokesperson from the Royal Mail said the letter must have fallen behind a couch or something.
Someone must have picked it out more than 100 years later and then must have been put back for disposal of the post. And that is how it has reached the same address after 112 years.
The one thing is clear, no matter what the speed of communication is people were flakey then and people are flaky now too.
