21-year-old Jade Bailey-Reeks was raped in her sleep by the guy she was seeing while she was sick in bed.
She saw him jailed for four years after she recorded him confessing to his crime.
The victim realized she had been attacked by 23-year-old Haydon David-Patton when she woke up from a deep sleep and found herself partially clothed.
At first, she was not sure whether the police would consider it as rape as she had been in the early stages of a relationship with the guy.
After a month, he deleted messages from her phone in which they had talked about the attack. She knew right then what he did was a crime.
Bailey-Reeks knew she would need hard evidence to get him convicted so she secretly recorded him confessing to what he did.
Davis-Patton said in the recording: “I don’t know why I done it. I’ve got no explanation at all.”
When she asked how long it lasted, he answered: “A minute, if that, it’s not like I went f****** all out f****** 20 minutes.”
Bailey-Reeks said: “I don’t know if it’s okay that you did it in my sleep. I don’t know if it’s okay because we’re together. I don’t know, I really don’t know.”
He then said: “It’s not like I f****** tickled you.”
She asked: “’What the f*** did you do then?” He answered: “You know what I did.”
Bailey-Reeks can be heard saying: “Well I don’t because I was sleeping.”
She told police: “The night he raped me I had been working as a carer and a hairdresser and I was feeling tired and poorly. He said he was locked out and he asked to stay over.
“I had a double bed. I slept as far away from him as possible. I slept in a nightie that went past my knees and I wore some boxer shorts.
“We hadn’t slept together before and I told him to make it clear: “I don’t want to sleep with you”. When I woke up and my clothes were off I realized straight away he’d had sex with me while I’d been asleep.
“I couldn’t believe anyone would do that. I was in shock.”
Davis-Patton pleaded guilty to rape and was jailed for four years at Newcastle Crown Court.
