A woman from Minnesota was reunited with her dog thanks to the brewery who posted her photo on a beer can after thinking she’d never get to see the pooch again.
A brewery from Florida has been praised by dog lovers and beer enthusiasts after deciding to start posting pictures of shelter dogs on beer cans in order to help them get adopted.
The initiative was made possible thanks to the cooperation between Motorworks Brewing and the local Shelter Manatee.
“Partnering with this month’s cause, Shelter Manatee, we are excited to release an exclusive ADOPTABLE DOG Cruiser Kölsch 4-PACK,” the brewery announced on Facebook. “Proceeds go to Shelter Manatee to help build the new shelter for our less fortunate four-legged friends.
“The dogs featured on the can will be on-site ready for adoption alongside several more puppers-in-need plus raffles, silent auctions, drink specials, food trucks & local vendors. #adoptdontshop”
Besides dogs’ pictures, each can also comes with a brief description of the dog on the photo and their personality traits to encourage beer lovers to adopt.
After Motorworks’ unique beer cans hit the headlines, Minnesota-based Monica Mathis quickly recognized a face she couldn’t erase from her memory.
One of the rescues on the beer cans was Day Day, previously known as Hazel, the dog she was separated from three years ago when the pooch got lost while the family was living in Iowa.
While it isn’t clear how Hazel got from Iowa to Shelter Manatee, the shelter was forced to put her up for adoption after finding out that the contact details on her chip were outdated.
As Monica claimed, she was unable to update her information because she had lost access to the dog’s microchip.
“I was scrolling pretty much on Facebook and I saw. I was like, ‘Oh my gosh! That’s my dog!’ I really thought she was gone, I never thought I’d see her again. I had a doubt, I was like ‘Oh my gosh, it looks like her, but is it really her?’” she told Fox News.
After getting in reach with the shelter, Monica quickly managed to convince them Hazel was hers by showing them old photos and medical records.
“We saw photos and vet records. This dog was such an important part of her family that she had everything to prove she was her owner,” Hans Wohlgefahrt of Manatee County Animal Services expressed.
“There was really no way we could trace her back to that particular owner. It’s a great reminder to people when they do these things to go into their profile and make sure all their contact information is up to date.”
