A woman who participated in killing her sister’s boyfriend in order to allow her to get married to her biological father has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.
33-year-old Anna Marie Choudhury was charged with second-degree murder after the death of 38-year-old John Thomas McGuire who was reportedly tortured for several days back in February 2019.
According to the reports, Anna’s family was arrested after McGuire’s body was discovered in a grave located at the property of Larry Paul McClure, Anna’s father.
As the authorities found out, McGuire was the boyfriend of 31-year-old Amanda McClure, Larry’s other daughter, who was also sentenced to 40 years in prison over a second-degree murder charge.
The twisted murder plot began unveiling back in early 2019 when McGuire and Amanda were staying in Indiana. After running into problems with their vehicle, the couple called Amanda’s father and sister and asked them for help.
After Anna and Larry arrived at the pair’s home, they took Amanda and McGuire to West Virginia, and things started getting weird between the four individuals who were all using drugs at the time.
As the court heard, 55-year-old Larry tricked McGuire into participating in a “trust game” that saw the man’s feet tied up. According to Choudhury, this is when “things started to get strange.”
She went on to recall how her sister, Amanda, smashed a bottle on her boyfriend’s head before the family proceeded to torture the 38-year-old for three days.
Larry, who previously pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole last year after admitting to dismembering and burying McGuire in two places.
Just weeks after the brutal murder, the sick family plot thickened as Amanda went on to marry her biological dad with Anna serving as the pair’s witness.
“He sat down and I don’t know, it was a grin that I’ll never be able to describe,” Choudhury told the judge as she recalled the change in her father’s behavior after they trapped McGuire.
“But as John sat up and bent over to untie his feet, and it all happened so quick, but Amanda stood up and grabbed that bottle and bashed him over the back of the head with it.
“And the next thing I know John had reared up and was leaning back against the wall holding his head. And that’s when Larry looked at me and told me if I knew what was best for my children and wanted them to live, I would follow all instructions that were given to me from that moment on.”
She added: “They stood over me and told me I needed to finish it and needed to strangle him, so that’s what I did.”
Last year, during her own sentencing, Amanda expressed how she wished she could bring John back because he was a good man.
“I have to look at myself every day. My family didn’t raise me to be this way. I’ve not only hurt John’s family, I’ve hurt my own family,” she previously said.
“My dad didn’t want anyone else near me. John told Larry that he loved me and we were going to get married. I wish I could bring John back. He was a good man.”
