The woman who survived an ax attack has been identified by neighbors and friends as 21-year-old Angela Valle.
Emergency services arrived at her apartment in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and found her outside bleeding with lacerations to her body and head.
Valle told medics her female relative, Savannah Rivera, 20, was lifeless inside, according to The New York Daily News.
The relative was found unresponsive in the living room of the 8th floor home, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police sources said that her head was “almost severed from her body and several of her fingers were severed.”
Valle’s 4-year-old daughter was also inside the apartment in a separate bedroom. Thankfully, the child was unharmed but was still brought to hospital for observation and evaluation.
Neighbors are wondering whether Valle’s estranged boyfriend may have been the one responsible for the ax attack. One said that the former couple were “always fighting.”
An ax has reportedly been discovered in the building’s trash compactor.
“There was an ax? That’s crazy,” one rattled resident of the building expressed.
The 21-year-old is now in a stable condition in Elmhurst hospital. She first attempted to escape by calling an Uber but when the driver noticed she was bleeding heavily, he contacted 911. Medical services arrived immediately.
