A woman has taken matters into her own hands and tracked down the thief who stole her car and her wallet before making unauthorized purchases on her expense.
Danielle Reno from Missouri has started tracking down the person who stole from her after filing a report to the police and realizing she would probably be able to solve the case faster on her own.
While Ms. Reno lacks experience as an investigator, she managed to hunt down the culprits by tracking the GPS of her stolen phone. She also unblocked her credit cards, which she initially blocked, in order to track down the location of purchases made using her cards.
After 48 hours of tailing the culprits, Reno finally got her vehicle back and called the police on the thieves who were about to enjoy a meal at a local Applebee’s.
“We stalked this lady for 48 hours. She had no idea what we were doing,” Danielle said in an interview with KCTV. “We got our waters and she walked in the door. I about had a heart attack.”
Before the thief could drive away, the woman ‘stole’ back her own car and drove away while waiting for the police to arrive.
Following the authorities’ arrival, the female thief and her accomplice got arrested.
“Oh my gosh, before I call the cops, I wanted to show you all what we just found, by doing our own stalking. At Applebee’s, my heart’s racing,” Reno said in a video she recorded during the manhunt.
While Reno managed to get her car back, she expressed great sadness over the state her vehicle was left in.
“Look at my back seat. Beer in my back seat. There’s stuff on the car seat. There’s stuff on the seat. It’s just gross,” she added in her video. According to Reno, her car is no longer usable thanks to the treatment the thieves put it through.
