Woman Who Had to Travel 2 Hours in the Train Everyday to See Her Baby in the Hospital Gifted With a Train Pass


For a mother, the most difficult thing to do is to stay away from her children and it becomes all the way more difficult if the child is a newborn and is admitted in a hospital, struggling with its life.

The poor mother who has to be in such a situation can only understand the hardship and the emotional trauma of this. Rachel Broadway’s life is stuck in the same situation right now.

Rachel Broadway’s baby was born premature and doctors said that she needs special care. For the same, the baby had to be kept in a special care ward in the hospital that was 2 hours far from Rachel’s home.

The poor mother had to travel 2 hours on a train every day just to see her baby. Luckily she came around a kind-hearted conductor and the woman gave her a free train pass to help her in her struggle.

Rachel lives in Retford and the woman gave birth to twins who she named Ocean and Odin at Sheffield Teaching Hospital. The babies were born 12 weeks earlier than the due date.

Although baby Odin had no issue and was able to go home fine, baby girl Ocean was not. She suffered from a rare condition called necrotizing enterocolitis. This is an illness in the intestine that majorly affects premature.

She said that they tried to feed her milk to see if she can hold it in but it did not work. Now she and baby Odin visit Ocean every day.

On one of her routine trips to the hospital in the train, she came across a conductor who was also a daily commuter. She asked her about why she traveled with her newborn every day.

Then when Rachel explained the situation, The conductor talked to the authorities and decided to give her a free train pass to make her life a little easy at least.
