A young woman has been engaged in three prior bizarre mishaps before being thrown nine meters into the air by a rollercoaster.
Shylah Rodden, 26, was hurt in a car accident in January, and her family filed a lawsuit on her behalf on Friday in the Victorian County Court.
Earlier reports indicated that she was engaged in another catastrophic vehicle accident in February of 2019, and then in January of 2021, she flipped her car after colliding with a truck.
Ms. Rodden is still in critical condition after being hit by the Rebel Coaster attraction at the Melbourne Royal Show last Sunday. This is the fourth bizarre accident the young woman has endured in the past year.
On Friday, her family filed a writ to safeguard her legal rights following the occurrence in 2018.
Legal manager at Arnold Thomas and Becker Aki Munir claims she was hurt in a “road accident due to the negligence of the defendant” and is now suing for damages.
Ms Munir informed the Herald Sun that the action centers on a road accident in which the plaintiff was seriously hurt. The writ is being filed to protect her entitlements in the event of her untimely demise.
According to Ms. Munir, Ms. Rodden’s family is considering taking legal action against the Melbourne Royal Show and the Rebel Coaster’s operators for carelessness.
Ms. Rodden was helping out at a friend’s booth at the fair when she was fatally injured by the rollercoaster. They were taking a break and decided to go on some rides to pass the time.
Ms. Rodden is suspected by authorities of walking into the tracks of the high-speed ride in an attempt to collect a phone she dropped while riding the rollercoaster.
This Monday, her father Alan Rodden informed the Daily Mail Australia that his daughter had sustained injuries that would change her life forever.
“No, I can’t have a conversation with my daughter. She will be in a coma for a considerable amount of time”, he said.
He further added, “The injuries are horrific. Horrific. She’s brain-damaged. It’s pelvic, her arms, legs, back, neck – there’s hardly a thing that’s not broken. I just can’t work out how the hell so much damage has been done”.
