A Woman Won A Farmhouse Worth $650k After Buying A Raffle Ticket


A 23-year-old woman has won a farmhouse worth £500,000 ($650,000) by purchasing a raffle ticket of just £2($2.

Jemma Nicklin was beyond happy after she received a call saying that she was the only lucky person to win the four-bedroom large farmhouse.

The farmhouse located in Longnor, Shropshire, was previously owned by Michael and Linda.

The original owners, when failed to find a buyer for their property, decided to put the farmhouse as a reward for a competition.

The couple revealed that as soon as they put the house on the reward, they started getting immense entries.

Jemma who won the keys said she was ‘over the moon’ after hearing the news of her victory.

She said: “I couldn’t believe it was real when I got the call. I didn’t think people actually won things like this.

“I’d seen a post about it on BirminghamLive and thought it looked beautiful so I thought I might as well enter as my mum and dad and my boyfriend had too.

“I bought two tickets but I never expected to win. It’s incredible.”

Jemma currently lives in Bilston, West Midlands with her parents. She works as an admin assistant in Wednesbury.

The 23-year-old, for whom buying a house wasn’t easy, now possesses her own property at a beautiful location.

“The rate I was saving I don’t think I’d have got a deposit until I was about 26 or 27 and then I would definitely have ended up buying something much smaller,” said Jemma.

The farmhouse consists of four large bedrooms, a wide living room, a dining room, a library as well as a separate annex.

Jemma is not even required to pay for any legal fee, stamp duty or mortgage because the competition launchers will be paying that amount too from the excess money raised.

Jemma added: “It’s so difficult to get a house these days, I’d just started saving for a mortgage, I guess that’s one thing I don’t have to worry about anymore!”
