A woman who met a guy with a ‘cute’ dog on Tinder says she endured the ‘worst date ever’ after she ended up jumping into the river to rescue the pooch.
Lizzy Johnson and her Tinder date were walking along the River Mole in Walton-on-Thames when the boxer dog excitedly jumped into the waters.
The guy said that the pooch had ‘never seen water before’ and Lizzy had to jump into the river to rescue the dog while “he just stood there.”
The mother-of-two did not think twice when she went in after the dog. But she said that her Tinder date, who was worried about his car keys and phone, was “too busy flapping” as she saved the pooch.
He only “made useless suggestions” when she struggled to climb back.
After five minutes, Lizzie finally managed to get out of the water, and that’s when they started the ‘awkward’ 10-minute walk back to their cars where they quickly said their goodbyes.
As soon as Lizzy got back home, she recorded a funny video of her face, shirt, and jeans covered in mud as she shared details of her date.
“It was probably the worst date ever, maybe because I wasn’t feeling him as well. It wasn’t a great date,” she said.
“It was my first socially-distanced kind of date and I’m just going to wait until things resume so I can be taken out for a nice glass of wine – dog walks are out of the picture for now.”
“I got out and asked if my make-up was ok and he was like ‘yes, it’s fine’ – when I looked in the mirror at home I had mud on my face,” Lizzy said.
“We walked past quite a few families and they looked at me like ‘what have you been doing?’”
She added: “I definitely saw the funny side to it – I’m proud that I saved the dog before thinking about my phone and keys, like him.
“All my friends were like ‘it could only happen to you Lizzy’ – I have no luck with dating and I just thought I’d share it.”
