Ashley Thomas, 31, and Toya Wimberly, 29, have been friends since childhood.
The two always felt like siblings and were amazed to discover earlier this year that they actually are half-siblings.
Toya’s dad Kenneth joked that Ashley was really his daughter and surprisingly he recently discovered that Ashley’s late mom was one of his exes, and he was her biological father.
Toya said: ‘I always looked up to Ashley, as if she was a big sister,’ with Ashley adding: ‘She actually was similar to me.’
Ashley found out that her dad Mike was not her biological father in 2005, but the two continued their relationship of father-daughter as before and remained close. Her mother passed away shortly afterwards.
The photos of Toya’s engagement party earlier this year revealed the secret of Ashley being her half-sister. Ashley shared the pictures of the engagement party on Facebook and her late mom’s best friend spotted Kenneth posing with Toya.
Kenneth then learned he knew Ashley’s late mom and that he could be her biological dad. He told ABC6: ‘I said “oh yeah, I remember Michelle. I was trying to figure out where we were going with this.’
They organized a DNA test, and it confirmed that he is her biological dad. Recalling the moment she discovered the news, Toya said: ‘A week later, the DNA test came back. My father texted me to tell me, Ashley’s your sister. ‘I just started crying.’
Ashley added: ‘My heart kinda dropped.’
‘I have been around him all my life, and I never once thought, he could have been my dad.’
The half-sisters have many things in common as they both have the same gap between their front teeth and wearing braces to fix, they even have the same high cheekbones. They fell pregnant at the same time, and their spouses are themselves, brothers.
