Two women were arrested after storming the Capitol and bragging about it in their video.
Diana Santos-Smith and Dawn Bancroft have both been charged with disorderly conduct and violent entry of Capitol grounds after participating in the January 6 assault on Capitol Hill.
The two MAGA followers recorded themselves bragging about entering the building and threatening to shoot House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
According to the FBI, investigators apprehended the two rioters after receiving a tip and a video of Bancroft and Santos-Smith inside the Capitol.
“We broke into the Capitol… we got inside, we did our part,” Bancroft said in her video, the prosecutors have claimed.
The MAGA rioter reportedly added: “We were looking for Nancy to shoot her in the friggin’ brain but we didn’t find her.”
Following the January 6 events, the investigators also retrieved security footage that shows the two suspects making their way into the restricted building.
While Santos-Smith initially insisted she didn’t participate in the assault on the Capitol, she eventually admitted to storming the building after investigators presented the evidence. Both suspects also claimed they were only inside for less than a minute.
After the truth came out, Santos-Smith attempted to shift blame by saying she and her friend were just following the mob after they heard other rioters shouting: “they’re letting us in.”
“After interviewing agents showed Santos-Smith the video described above, [she] then stated that she lied and that she was inside the Capitol,” the criminal complaint states.
“Specifically, Santos-Smith stated that she and Bancroft went to the Capitol to protest and that they did not have a pre-planned agenda of entering the Capitol.”
