Nothing speaks relaxation like soaking in a tub does.
Perhaps it’s all those movies or maybe that’s what you grew up with, but whenever one is feeling stressed or just wrung out, the thought of dipping into a relaxing hot bath already makes you want to drop everything and head back home.
Even not having a bathtub at home does not prevent these daydreams and a lot of times, during hotel or resort stays, one of the first destinations is the bathtub.
There are bathtubs and there are bathtubs but when it comes to luxury and quality, the wooden bathtub collection of NK Woodworking Design certainly deserves a spot on the list of must-have tubs. These incredible bathtubs are the creations of craftsman/artist Nathie Katzoff, the founder of NK Woodworking Design. He first trained as a boat builder in Maine where he built numerous historic and classic wooden vessels, both small and large.
With a boatload of experience (pardon the pun) working with woods, curves, and colors, Nathie decided to apply his skills towards crafting one-of-a-kind pieces of furniture, elegant staircases, and luxury wooden tubs. In some ways, a bathtub is like a small ship except that it holds water in rather than keep it out.
Nathie formed an all-star team of builders in 2011 in what eventually became NK Woodworking Design. By 2015, their wooden bathtub line was born.
While they have a few standard designs you can choose from, you also have the option of going for a full custom job. Needless to say, this will cost you extra.
But even their standard versions are things of beauty such as the Lotus Bathtub Collection, oval-shaped with a short base extending outward as it goes up, the Cube bathtub with its straight edges and lines, and the Round bathtub which takes a more circular shape compared to the Lotus. A cube sink design is also available that’s fully made of wood.
Unlike traditional wooden tubs, NK Woodworking’s products are maintenance-free. Nathie’s extensive background in shipbuilding is evident in the tubs because they’re waterproof, stabilized, and smooth to the touch. Extreme humidity, dryness, or common liquid cleaning solutions will not affect the tub.
Their hardwoods, while exotic, are sustainable and domestically-sourced. Their Seattle studio then puts on the finishing touches with a specialized system that ensures unmatched longevity and durability.
