Pit bulls have a somewhat undeserved reputation as ill-mannered and aggressive.
Which is probably why a group of construction workers in Rodnia, Brazil fled in terror when they saw a pitbull waltz into the lobby of the building they were working in.
CCTV footage captured the whole thing. Several construction workers are busy moving around, with some of them even carrying some boards, when one of them points off camera.
The workers immediately scramble away with three of them taking refuge behind the counter while the rest flee to a room and close the door while anxiously looking out the window built into the door. A few seconds later, a pit bull can be seen strolling in while furiously wagging its tail.
It sniffs out the workers behind the counter and proceeds to approach them. Cornered, the three desperately clamber atop the counter to try to avoid the dog. Of course, the dog just interprets this as them wanting to play some hide and seek with him and tries even more vigorously to reach them.
Finally, one of them realizes that the dog just wanted to play and even courageously opens the door to reach out and pet the dog.
It turns out the dog had gotten loose and escaped from a neighbor’s house. One of the workers said the dog just “wanted to play with our team members who weren’t having it at first.”
There are a lot of misconceptions about pit bulls. But in fact, they actually rank above average on temperament tests on a consistent basis and probably explain why they are one of the top three choices of breeds in 28 states across the United States.
