500 fortunate members of the list of world’s richest people have amassed an extra $1.
2 trillion in combined wealth in just one year.
As per the Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index, the 500 wealthiest individuals worldwide have accumulated $1.2 trillion in the year 2019, totaling to the combined wealth of $5.9 trillion.
Previously, in the year 2018, the top 500 richest people had a combined wealth of $4.7 trillion.
While the technology mogul and the CEO of Amazon Jeff Bezos was the only entrepreneur among the 30 richest people in the world to experience a drop in the total net worth in 2019, he remains on top of the ladder despite his $8.75 billion loss.
Joining Bezos, who has a total net worth of $116 billion, on the list of top ten richest people were also Bill Gates with a net worth of $113 billion and Bernard Arnault with a net worth of $106 billion.
Other names on the top 10 richest people who have yet to reach the 3-figure billion number in total net worth included Warren Buffett, Mark Zuckerberg, Amancio Ortega, Larry Page, Sergey Brin, Charles Koch, and the only woman on the top 10 list, Julia Flesher Koch.
Bernard Arnault, who ranked third on the list, was also the one with the biggest financial gains in 2019 by adding $37.7 billion to his total net worth.
Other astounding gains included that of Mark Zuckerberg who added $27.4 billion to his fortune and Bill Gates who increased his wealth by $23.1 billion.
