Omkari Singh and her husband, Charan Singh Panwar from northern India always wanted a son but they had only two daughters.
The couple’s wish to have a son remained so Omkari Singh finally gave birth to a boy at the age of 70.
Now she is known as the world’s oldest mother. In 2008, Omkari gave birth to twins at the age of 70. The couple already had two daughters and five grandchildren but they always wanted a son to take care of the couple.
Omakari’s husband mortgaged his land, sold his buffaloes and spent his hard-earned money to pay for the IVF treatment.
“I’ve been in medicine for 20 years, and I have never heard of such a case,” Omkari’s gynecologist said.
The twins—one boy and one girl—were delivered by emergency C-section one month before the delivery date. They were premature, each weighed 2 pounds. Even though the twins were premature, the doctors said both babies were healthy.
But the female twin, Barsaat passed away at the age of 4. But the boy, Akashvani is eight years old now and is very healthy.
Omkari says people assume her to be his grandmother when they see them together. People get shocked when they see or hear about this world’s oldest mother. It is really hard to believe for any of us.
