93-Year-Old Has Become The World’s Oldest Novelist After Writing A Book Based On The Husband’s Love Letters


A 93-year-old widow has become the world’s oldest novelist as she has released her first book ‘A Daughter’s Choice’.

Margaret Ford’s first book named ‘A Daughter’s Choice’ is based on the 633 love letters she and her late husband, Jim sent to each other while he was serving with the Border Regiment.

Margaret told her husband Jim would write three letters to her a day and her first book is based on those letters.

She said: “It’s amazing to have my story out there. I have 633 letters from my husband which formed the basis of the story. It became my life. It builds up the point where a boy falls in love and stays in love.”

“The letters are still very important to me today, they’re very special.”

It took her three years to write the book. The book starts with her birth in a Lancashire town in 1926, tells how she met Jim and ends with their marriage in 1946.

Margaret told that she met Jim when she was at a dance and they started talking from that day.

She said: “I was at a dance when I saw Jim walk in. The two of us got talking. We got on very well indeed.”

Margaret and Jim got married in 1946.

After Jim died in 2013, Margaret decided to write a book based on the 633 love letters she and her late husband, Jim sent to each other while he was serving with the Border Regiment.

Margaret is now planning to write a sequel to the book ‘A Daughter’s Choice’.

She says: “It’s amazing how many stories you have.”

After publishing her first book at 93, Margaret has become the world’s oldest novelist.
