Earlier in 2008, WWE started to distance itself from the edgier and riskier content that had us clutched to the television for hours.
Rather, the company chose a more conservative attitude.
It seems that this move is mainly to do with WWE’s awareness – they have been losing the young audience that once was obsessed with the show. They expect that this will revive the ‘Attitude Era’ and get back an early fan base.
In accordance with Comic Book, it is a part of a major shake-up to the overall creative direction of WWE. This got a roar the previous week when it was declared that Eric Bischoff was being got back to head-up creative for SmackDown Live, whilst Paul Heyman has been appointed the same role for Monday night’s RAW.
Backing off from TV PG will make them get the freedom that is more creative when it comes to getting spectators a more attractive show.
It looks like things have already inclined up to a notch as, during Monday night’s episode of RAW, we watched as Braun Strowman undertook Booby Lashley all the way through the stage’s LED board.
This led to numerous explosions coming from the big screen.
Somebody took to the social media saying that they just require storylines that are not made for a 10-year-old to process. He added that they need that 18-35 demographic to be the most prominent then.
Someone else claimed that Pg was not the problem but it sometimes made everything unwatchable.
Another person commented predicting that there would probably just be more swearing and violence, but no chair shots to the head or sexual content.
